About Fred Schmidt

Fred won swimming letters in 1963-65. He won three Big Ten titles in butterfly events and swam on winning relay, NCAA champion in 100 and 200 butterfly in 1965; won two AAU individual titles and was on the winning relay team. In the 1964 Olympics Fred won a gold medal on the 400-medley relay team and bronze medal in the 200 butterfly.
